At Kamoa Copper, the health and well-being of our employees and surrounding communities are core values. In this context, our Sustainable Development Team organizes awareness sessions on malaria prevention in the communities around Kamoa. With the rainy season’s arrival, it is crucial to raise awareness about malaria prevention, maintaining a clean environment, and properly using insecticide-treated mosquito nets.
Malaria remains the leading cause of morbidity and mortality in the Democratic Republic of Congo. It is particularly common during the rainy season, severely affecting children under five and pregnant women. According to the National Malaria Control Program (PNLP), malaria accounts for 40% of deaths and 77% of hospitalizations among children under five in the DRC.
Kamoa Copper is actively involved in the fight against malaria, especially in surrounding communities, by distributing insecticide-treated mosquito nets and conducting awareness sessions. We firmly believe that prevention and education are key to reducing the impact of this disease, which continues to devastate our country.
United in the fight against malaria!
