Frank Zhang has over two decades of experience in the mining and metals industry, holding pivotal leadership roles across global operations. He played an instrumental role as Deputy General Manager and General Manager at Compagnie Minière de Musonoi (COMMUS), where he oversaw critical technological advancements and operational improvements in copper and cobalt projects. His tenure at COMMUS significantly boosted production output and operational efficiency, contributing substantially to annual revenue.

Frank has extensive experience managing greenfield and brownfield projects, excelling in metallurgical processes, resource optimisation, and cost management.

He possesses expertise in the processing and smelting of non-ferrous metals. His work includes optimising flotation processes, developing comprehensive utilisation strategies for low-grade ores, and advancing pyrometallurgical practices to reduce costs and improve efficiency. At Kamoa Copper, he leverages his expertise to advance the company’s standing as a leader in innovative, responsible mining.

Frank holds a degree in Non-Ferrous Metals Smelting from Northeastern University (China). An active member of industry organisations, Frank has contributed to the development of best practices and technological innovation within the mining sector.

He has received numerous prestigious accolades, including the National May-Day Labour Medal and multiple industry-specific Science and Technology Awards. He has authored 23 academic papers on non-ferrous metallurgy and holds 14 patents, demonstrating his commitment to advancing mining technologies.

As Executive Director at Kamoa Copper, Frank oversees strategic operations and ensures the seamless integration of innovative technologies in mining and processing activities. He works closely with cross-functional teams to maintain operational excellence and efficiency.
