Kamoa Copper raises awareness among youth about sustainable ecological practices

Raising awareness about environmental protection and sustainable development practices is a key priority, and it is essential that we all get involved. In alignment with the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), our Community Relations team organized awareness sessions at secondary schools in Kaponda and Musokantanda, as well as at primary schools in Cité Mwilu, Mundjendje, Mwinkeu 2, Muvunda, Samukoko, and Kamisangé. These sessions focused on the benefits of a healthy environment and the importance of maintaining cleanliness, particularly in their schools.

Waste management plays a crucial role in environmental protection. By teaching children how to sort and handle different types of waste, Kamoa is making a significant contribution to promoting sustainable environmental preservation practices. To ensure these lessons are put into action, our Community Relations team provided sufficient trash bins to the various schools, labeling them accordingly.

This initiative is part of our “KINGA MAZINGIRA” campaign, which means “Protect the Environment.” By educating local community members from a young age, Kamoa is making a significant impact on environmental preservation and encouraging a culture of environmental management.
